World Champion Gayle and meeting Record Holders Juška and Mitkova to Compete in Košice

10.06.2025

Our street athletics meeting, JBL Jump Fest, once again confirms its reputation as one of the most attractive track and field events out there. This year’s lineup promises outstanding performances and world-class battles right in the heart of Košice.

Spectators attending the 10th anniversary edition can look forward to a clash of titans in the men’s long jump – as 2019 World Champion Tajay Gayle (PB 8.69m) from Jamaica will compete on the Košice square. He will face Radek Juška, both the meeting record holder and Czech national record holder (PB 8.31m). Representing Slovakia will be rising talent Matúš Blšták, who recently improved his personal best to 7.66m – a perfect chance for him to shine on home soil against world-class names.

In the women’s category, athletics fans can look forward to another big name – JBL Jump Fest record holder Plamena Mitkova, who will once again aim to push the performance boundaries and defend her crown as the queen of long jump in Košice.

“We’re proud to once again bring star names to Košice while also giving young local talents a chance to compete. JBL Jump Fest is simply a celebration of athletics that everyone can enjoy – even those just passing by – since entry is free,” said event manager Peter Samuelis.

Additionally, we’ve increased the grandstand capacity, which should further enhance the already amazing atmosphere created by Košice’s passionate spectators. A new and exciting feature will be the men’s long jump competition under artificial lights in the Open category, taking place on the evening of June 10th, the night before the main competition begins. This unique format promises a special atmosphere, dynamic energy, and a visual spectacle in the stunning evening setting of Košice.
